Hal Windows v2.0...HTV Direct Access Interface...x64 & Windows 7 Compatible...
HTV Direct Access Interface by Amanda Interactive Inc
HTV Interface Version: 1.0
Re-release Date: 05/13/10
Last Update: 05/26/10
Removed Hal Windows Central Grab Label.
Addresses & fixes high screen resolution
issue of some navigation controls disappearing
on window resize event. Now works with high screen
resolutions up to 1600x900. Also changed Hal Windows
to Hal Windows Central in main window title.
Requirements:
Hal Windows, AutoIt, or Ultra Hal software install not required. Just a Haptek install & IE6
or higher is all that is required to use the new HTV Direct Access Interface. After unzipping
there's nothing to install because it works from any hard drive or flash drive location. But it's recommended that you create a new shortcut and place it wherever you want, desktop is
good. It's also recommended that you leave the HTVdai.exe file inside of its folder and just
move the entire folder to wherever you want to put it. But HTVdai.exe will still work just fine
even if it's not in it's original folder. You also cannot run more than one instance of the HTV
Direct Access Interface and there's really no need to anyway.
Overview:
Runs a direct connection to Hal Windows Central and loads our home page by default after
user clicks the connection button (user must also configure firewalls to allow connection).
The "Hal Windows Central Direct Access:" grab label within a previous version has been
removed in order to address and fix a minor high screen resolution issue.
Instructions:
The HTV Direct Access Interface is Windows 7 & x64 compatible so that a user with a
multicore system can run online webpages with Haptek characters and not have the usual
Haptek related problems and issues. But the Direct Access Interface will also work on most
any kind of Windows system that is XP or higher and is a win32 or x64.
Some x64 systems may also require that the HTV Direct Access Interface file, HTVdai.exe,
be configured with the Privilege Level set to run the program as an administrator and the Compatibility Mode set with the XP SP3 setting. It's easy to configure, right click directly
on the HTVdai.exe file then select Properties and then select the Compatibility tab to make
the necessary changes. It's recommended that you only set the Privilege Level first and then
see how things work. Setting the Compatibility Mode may cause the program process to use
a lot more memory which may not be necessary if things seem to work good with just the
Privilege Level set to run as an administrator.
Running with the Privilege/Compatibility addresses & fixes the Haptek character load bug which sometimes occurs with online webpages. But a Win7 system usually does not allow setting the Compatibility Mode for Internet Explorer because Internet Explorer is considered to be a system component and not a software program. So we just made our own custom browser for our website that runs a Haptek character and then we just set the compatibility so that eveything works right.
It's a somewhat simple solution to a real pain in the ass problem but hopefully things will work as good for you as they do for us. We run Win7 x64 touchscreen systems with the new Hal Windows
v2 software and then we just tap on the screens to make Ultra Hal or Haptek do whatever we want.
A single tap of the screen can send an entire sentence to Ultra Hal or make a Haptek character
say and do anything. So since we can do all that, your chances of being able to do the more conventional things with no issues are very good because all Hal Windows touchscreen
functions also work with a point & click of the mouse.
Additional Info:
The HTV Direct Access Interface is x64 MultiCore Compatible for Haptek 3D software. If
you have a x64 CPU and a x64 OS then you will see an additional option to connect a x64
MultiCore System. You should only connect with the x64 option if your system really has a
multicore processor. If you select the x64 option and your system has a multicore processor
then the HTV interface will run it's own process only within the first core of your multicore
system. And then hopefully the HTV Haptek character, Amanda Interactive, will run better.
The x64 connection option saves the user the extra step of setting a running browser process
to use only one core on a multicore system. This browser based interface is also designed to automatically re-activate it's own window whenever the Haptek Player first loads into the window
which is something that a browser doesn't usually do (hidden Haptek Player Console usually
becomes active window when it first loads into browser). This interface utilizes Internet Explorer components so you must have IE v6 or higher installed on your system in order for things to work properly. This interface basically functions as a highly specialized secured browser for the Hal Windows Central website. This interface is also intended for desktops with a display screen
size of 800x600 or larger. Hal Windows and AutoIt software install not required.
PS - Uninstall by sending the HTV Direct Access Interface file & folder to the Recycle Bin.
