HTV Voice Downloads...
This page is for those who don't already have Haptek or TTS voices yet! The following
downloads listed are the bare minimum of required components to run a 3D Haptek
character with speech capability so that it can talk. If you already have the Haptek
software installed and the character talks then you may not need some of the
following install files.

Microsoft Agent Core Components Version 2.0 - (395K)
If you have Windows XP/2000 or higher than you most likely already have this stuffed
pre-installed on your computer so you can just skip this download. However, some
newer Microsoft OS systems may not have this pre-installed because Microsoft has
already phased out full support of MS Agent technology. So if you have a fairly new
Windows 7 system you'll  just have to figure things out yourself. But you probably
don't need this at all if you are not trying to run actual MS Agents which has
absolutely nothing to do with our HTV stuff which is based on Haptek and
TTS voices.

Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice, Text-to-Speech Engine (English version) - (1MB)
The Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice Text-to-Speech (TTS) Engine provides speech output
capabilities for Microsoft Agent so you can hear what the characters are saying through
your sound speakers. Download the above tv_enua.exe setup program and run it to
install the TTS Engine. Once you have this installed you should see Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice American English TTS Engine in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs
list.

Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice, Text-to-Speech Engine (British version) - (2.55MB)
After Lernout & Hauspie English version is installed you can install the British male
and female voices. These are two of the best human-like free voices available so it's recommended that you install and try them out. We feel that they are still better then
most paid voices so save your money and just use these for now or forever!

Microsoft, Text-to-Speech Engine (English version) - (5.15MB)
This is just a whole bunch of old Microsoft voices that still work fairly well on newer
systems but none of them are as good as the newer Microsoft Anna voice. So just
download this pack if you want some old fashion robot type of voices, although the
Mary voice sounds slightly more human than the rest of them.

Microsoft Speech Control Panel - (840K)
The Speech Control Panel will add an icon to your Control Panel to enable you to
list the compatible speech recognition and text-to-speech engines installed on your
system and customize their settings for your use.

Microsoft Speech Recognition (SAPI 4 & SAPI 5)
We didn't bother listing the free optional Microsoft speech recognition programs because
they stink and are a big waste of time. Amanda Interactive & Hal Windows is also phasing
out it's own built-in speech recognition capabilities because our current development path
is leading us further and further into point&click automation along with our newer mouse
hover controls which are all much more reliable and efficient than most any speech
recognition program.

Haptek TTS Voice Issue:
On some Windows 7 systems the L&H male and female British voices might not show up
as a selectable voice in the HapSAPISetup so you can't use them and there's nothing that
you can do about it except use some other voice instead. But it's no big deal, try using the
free Microsoft Anna instead because that one really does sound pretty good for a free voice.
