Hal Windows v2.0...Hap Control Pad...Touchscreen Compatible...
Designed developed and tested on x64 Win7 systems for enhanced compatibility
Hap Control Pad by Amanda Interactive Inc
Hap Control Pad Version: 1.0
Release Date: 05/01/10
Last Update: 05/18/10 - Added Touchscreen Enhancement & Tweaked Timers
Change current arrow direction by tapping new arrow direction without having
to stop first by tapping "Hap Stat/Online" label. So touchscreen control is
now more dynamic. Touchscreen and mouse point&click are also both more
responsive. If a point&click arrow jam occurs then clicking on a new arrow
might unjam and then just send the character in the new arrow direction. So
clicking "Hap Stat/Online" label to unjam is not always necessary anymore
if an arrow jam occurs, just click in a new arrow direction instead and keep
on going. Character movement is now also a little smoother after tweaking
control timers.
Updated Version: 05/08/10 - Added Control Arrow Loop Exit
Click "Hap Stat:" or "Online" label to break out of loop if arrow jams.
Also more touchscreen compatible, tap arrow on, tap "Hap Stat:" to
stop then tap another arrow to move character in new direction and
so on.
Requirements:
Hal Windows, AutoIt, or Ultra Hal software install not required. Just a Haptek install is all that
is required to use the new Hap Control Pad. The Hap Control Pad is also 100% compatible
with any kind of software or window that runs a Haptek character inside of it.
Overview:
This version of the Hap Control Pad is basically just a free Haptek utility program that can be
used to test out the new Haptek point & click control engine that is currently being used in the
new unreleased Hal Windows OS Interface v2 version. This free version of the Hap Control Pad
has no trial period limitation and contains no adware no spyware or other types of similar crap.
If you obtained it directly from us then it's 100% safe & crap free!
After unzipping there is nothing to install. The Hap Control Pad folder and file, HapCtrlPad.exe,
can be placed anywhere and it will work. So the only additional thing to do is just create a new shortcut for HapCtrlPad.exe and then place the shortcut anywhere, right on your desktop is a
good place. And the "Images" subfolder just contains the control arrows that are displayed within
the main GUI window. Each control arrow will appear to light up whenever you click on one so it
looks cool!
The Hap Control Pad is able to control a Haptek character running inside of anything, such as
Ultra Hal, HapPlayer AX, or a webpage like the Hal Windows Central HTV On Demand page.
One of the reasons why we made the HTV On Demand modules was to further develop the
Hal Windows Haptek control engine. And since HTV is online and totally free, anyone a can
view the ongoing development process by just checking out or using HTV every once in awhile.
But the main difference between HTV & the Hap Control Pad is that HTV uses a combination
of hover controls with point & click controls. The Hap Control Pad basically works the same
way but with no hover controls, just point & click.
Additional Info:
The My Halinator GUI from Hal Windows v1 used a helper process for realtime point & click
control of a Haptek character. The default Primary Hap Control Mode is what used the helper
process. But there is a Secondary Hap Control Mode that turns off the helper process and
then Hap Control is all performed from the main GUI process, MyHalinator.exe. But the overall performance from the MyHalinator.exe wasn't as good as the performance of the helper process,
MyHalControl.exe.
All that has now changed because we further developed and tested realtime control from a single process which led to the new Haptek point & click control engine. Hence, we now have the new
Hap Control Pad which is also very easy to use. However, it is somewhat limited in that it is
designed and intended to be used for only one purpose, realtime point & click control of a
Haptek character. And the actual control is limited to just moving the character around within
the 3D Hap World, although we did include controls for turning the character walking on & off.
So The Hap Control Pad is nothing like the My Halinator GUI which is packed with hundreds of features and functions for Hal, Haptek, and a Windows Operating System. The Hap Control Pad
is just a new very easy and more convenient way for controlling the Haptek character within it's
3D world.
Main Features & Instructions:
- Intended to be used with body_female or body_male characters. Other full body characters such
as the fullbod girl are no longer supported by the free version of Hal Windows. Free versions of Hal Windows products no longer account for inverted internal character settings such as plus is minus
and minus is plus for certain things within a certain character type which is the case for fullbod.
The fullbod image also starts to degrade much sooner as the character moves further away
toward the background so it's just not as good for movement within the 3D Hap World.
- Also works with head characters based on the same character settings of the standard Haptek
head character. But the controls are designed for full body and not head characters so it's
somewhat limited when used with head/torso characters.
- Has an 8-way multi-directional game style arrow layout. Also has two window modes, default
window mode and gamer mode which is a borderless window that can be switched to on-the-fly
by clicking either of the two small upper corner arrows. The "Hap Stat: Offline/Online" indicator
or the "Hal Windows v2.0" label can be grabbed by the mouse cursor to move the window around while running in either window mode. The Hap Control Pad runs as an always on top toolbar style window and the always on top setting cannot be turned off in this version. The window is also
a fixed size and cannot be minimized. Only one instance of the window/process can be ran, running two or more instances is not permitted but no info message will be displayed if you accidentally try to run more than one at the same time.
- This version also does not have controls for zooming the character straight up or down. And the
up & down control arrows zooms the character in & out. The main Auto Rotate feature is always
on by default and there is no control to shut it off. There is also no Mouse Awareness feature or
other things like a Clipboard Reader or Drag & Drop Boxes. Those and other features may some
day be added to the Hap Control Pad, but they are already included in the My Halinator GUI, so
we are simply just not duplicating features at this point in time. We also want to keep things as simple and as easy as possible because some people have trouble learning how to use a new
thing when it's loaded with many extra features like the My Halinator GUI. So the Hap Control
Pad is fairly good just the way it is for easy general purpose use. Just try it out and you'll see.
It does what no other thing in the world does with a Haptek character running inside of absolutely anything. It's 100% compatible with any software program or window that runs a Haptek character inside of it, and best of all it's totally free!
- P0 P1 P2 P3 are the center position controls which moves and always rotates the character to
face forward (y= 0 degrees). W0 turns walking off and W1 turns walking on.
- Click on any arrow and hold the primary mouse button down to continue in the arrow's direction. While the character is moving you can click the secondary mouse button to toggle between default speed and high speed. High speed moves the character about twice as fast as the default speed. When the primary mouse button is released the character will stop moving and the speed control always automatically reverts back to the default speed setting.
- The Hap Control Pad uses no hap files and all control settings are hard coded which means that
they cannot be changed by a user. We do have other versions that are user configurable and also
have other additional features but as of right now this is the only version that's free.
- The Hap Control Pad is the easiest way of controlling and moving a Haptek character around within it's own 3D world. You can also create your own simple interactive presentations by making a hap script file that just plays a song and loads in a new background or skin every once in awhile, and then run it while controlling the character in realtime with the Hap Control Pad. Then just walk the character around in any direction to your favorite songs and themes. It's all fun and easy to do!
Quick Tip: Change all your Hal's Haptek mood files from script type to command type and then any Hal mood change will not interrupt a long running Haptek script with clock commands. You can also define your long running Haptek scripts to be non-interruptive and then any Hal mood change will not interrupt it whether the Hal mood file is defined as script type or command type.
PS - Uninstall by sending the entire Hap Control Pad folder to the Recycle Bin.
